New purse from hubby~~~

I hardly ask for gifts, as a result, Jo hardly buys me gifts. I am ok with that because I prefer spending my own money for things that I like instead of asking him to pay and give me as a gift. I think it has become a habit for both of us.

Lately, I found my purse spoilt. It is beyond repair and I need to get a new one.

"See! My purse koyak already!" I casually complained to Jo.
"Just get a new one..."
"Em, will see how... Eh, I remember you bought me a purse for my birthday many years ago."
"So? Are you hinting anything?" Jo smiled.
"No, I didn't mean anything." I really didn't mean anything. But I started to think differently when Jo asked me that question. Haha...

Few days later......

"I want a gift from you!" I said to Jo.
"What?"
"A purse for my birthday. My birthday month is June, you have about six months to prepare."
"Em, okay!" Jo replied, with firm tone.

But Jo didn't wait until my birthday...

5 months old Jayden | 子乐五个月大了

Time flies...... Jayden already 5 months old but I feel like I just delivered yesterday!

He is growing well, weight 7.2kg and height about 2 feet. I am still breastfeeding him, and my milk production is increasing on par with his intake. He is able to turn his body around without much effort, and he likes to do it when he feels bored. He laughs and smiles a lot, and becoming more playful than before. Sometimes, he will response to our simple instructions but sometimes not. I think he understands what we say to him!

Everyone enjoys playing with him because he is very responsive. Jo starts to "play" football with Jayden and I can't wait to see the father and son going to football field and playing together!

Han Jin Peng & Ma Kiok

Today, I would like to introduce a very nice food -
"Han Jin Peng" and "Ma Kiok"!

I personally don't like Han Jin Peng previously. It is a kind of chinese food that is made of flour with red bean paste inside and sesame topping. It is fried until it turns into golden yellow. Best eat when it is just fried! Most Han Jin Peng I ate is very oily and with very little red bean paste. But the one in the photo is nice and with more red bean paste!

Another similar one I like the most is Ma Kiok. It is made of flour with sesame topping. It is very crunchy and not oily!

I strongly recommend Han Jin Peng and Ma Kiok lovers to try this out! It is sold at RM0.70 each. The stall is located at Taman Seri Muda, Shah Alam (corner lot, opposite the shop that is behind Public Bank).

Say YES to "No plastic bag day"

Since IKEA announced its stand in not giving away free plastic bags for purchased items starting from 5 June this year, I have been waiting for the whole Malaysia to follow the same. Finally, other than Penang, Selangor state government launched "No plastic bag" campaign and declared every Saturday to be a "no plastic bag day" starting from 1 Jan 2010!!

Before this announcement, I noticed a lot of retailers in Selangor sell reusable shopping bags at the cashier counter, for example Jaya Jusco, Tesco and Guardian Pharmacy. Jaya Jusco even launched its "no plastic bag day" before the state government and gives out reusable shopping bag for free. Other retailers encourage customers to bring own bags. Some even giving out reusable shopping bags for purchased items instead of plastic bags.

I think it is a great good move! I hope Malaysia will launch "no plastic bag day" for the whole country eventually, and not only on Saturday but other days as well! As I mentioned in my older post Say "NO" to plastic bags: we have been taking things from granted and it's time to repay!

Please love our environment. Please love our mother earth.

Breastfeeding in public

Feeding formula milk can be everywhere, but I want to feed Jayden breast milk whenever I am around. I always think of "where to feed Jayden?" whenever I bring him out shopping. So I started breastfeeding in "public"!

It is not really breastfeeding openly, but in nursery room or baby room available in shopping malls. I need to make sure it is available before I decided where to go shopping. I have few experiences and would like to share with people who may need it in the future, save time in looking for it next time!

1. Jaya Jusco
Jaya Jusco is available almost in all big shopping malls, for example Mid Valley, One Utama, IOI Mall, Sunway Pyramid and etc. You can go to children department and look for Baby Room / Nursery Room. Or, you can look for 'milk bottle' sign outside the washroom. They provide you with water dispenser, place to change diapers and private rooms with curtain for breastfeeding. The one in IOI Jaya Jusco is twin sharing private room, but comes with baby cot. Some others only provide a very small private room, with single seated sofa and a small table.

2. Sunway Pyramid
Other than baby room in Sunway Jaya Jusco, there are two public baby rooms available in Sunway Pyramid (Orange Zone): 1st floor opposite Delux and 2nd floor opposite Elianto. They provide you with water dispenser, play area and a private room with door. Do take note that air circulation in the private room is quite bad. Diapers changing facility is available in all washrooms.

3. IKEA
Baby room in IKEA is available at all floors. I visited baby room in IKEA, very simple! It is like a big washroom, with a small corner covered with curtain.

4. Others
Some of my friends told me that baby rooms are also available in Isetan and The Gardens. I need to check that out before I can confirm.

One important message: Men are strictly not allowed to enter! I do not understand why some men or women can just ignore the sign and go in or let their husband to go in.

Another important message: Please do not bring irrelevant people in. Baby room is only meant for mummy and baby who need to use the facilities available inside, and not for other people! Some people bring the whole kampung in, and the baby room becomes very noisy and congested. Some even allow their husband and older kids playing inside the baby room!! Some babies cry just because of it!

Jayden seems fascinated by breastfeeding in public. He always make happy and soft sounds while I am breastfeeding him or when he hears sounds from other babies in other private rooms. There was one time he suddenly stopped sucking and looked at me when another baby cried. He laughed and talked for a while (look more like teasing another crying baby), then only continued sucking.

Breastfeeding in public becomes part of my motherhood life. And I am happy that baby room facilities are more common in Malaysia nowadays.

Fashion news (Part 3 of 3) - Others

I am not only adding new clothes for myself, but also for my mum, my sister. And of course, for Jo and Jayden.

I bought my mum a nice shirt for new year and two leggings (black and white). I also bought my sister a dress (as mentioned in previous post) and one leggings (black). All are made of comfortable material and I think they will look very nice in those. I gave them before I managed to take any photo. So, I couldn't show any of it here.

-For Daddy-

I always like to buy shirts for Jo whenever I go shopping. I normally buy G2000 for him but I don't find G2000 good anymore. I found something better quality and comfortable.

I bought him two long sleeves shirts from Van Heusen, made of cotton. It was originally priced at RM119 per piece. Not to mention the discounted price as Jo will be reading my blog, but it is really at a very good price! And that was why I bought him two pieces. I like to see him wearing this kind of shirts - looks smart and handsome!

I also bought him a short sleeves shirt from Daniel Hechter, made of french linen. It is very comfortable and I bought it for his new year and fridays. High quality and comfortable casual wear. Best match with blue jeans! It was originally priced at RM229. Again, it is at a good price after discount! Yet, it is still the most expensive thing I bought that day. However, Jo doesn't seem to like it. He said it looks more like an uncle shirt. Anyway, he will turn to an uncle soon and I will get him to wear it, haha!

-For Son-

Jayden already has enough new clothes for new year. Jo bought him Liverpool romper and I bought him a 'China wear' when I went to Hangzhou. He still has a lot of new clothes which were given to him as present when he was newly borned. All those are for 6 to 12 months baby, just nice for him when comes to Chinese new year. So, I didn't plan to buy any clothes for him except some matching socks.

I found these, non-skid socks for 0 to 12 months baby. I think it is good for him because he will start crawling and learning to stand soon. The white one can match with his red Liverpool romper, dark blue can match with his superman romper given by Jo's brother, light blue can match with his another romper we bought recently...... I still need to get one that can match with his 'China wear'.

I showed these to Jayden when I came back from shopping. He was happy when I told him about his new year present. And I am happy to see his happy face!

Fashion news (Part 2 of 3) - Dress

I like dress a lot because I can just 'wear and go'. Dress is always my first choice! And I am happy that I got five nice dresses this time!

-Dress-
1 of 5 collections

I never thought of trying this dress when I saw it. However, the promoter was persuading me and said it has a very good cutting. So, I tried it... and I LIKE IT! In fact, what the promoter said is true! It really has a very good cutting and it is very comfortable. It is fitting but not tight fitting. I like the material, which is cotton and satin. I am happy that I found this piece!

2 of 5 collections

This is a casual dress, very light and comfortable. It is long enough to go without leggings. But it will also look nice if one wears it with leggings. It can also turned into a maternity wear when I get pregnant next time, ha! It is only available in two colors, yellow green and red, one piece each. I bought all, yellow green for myself and red for my sister.

3 of 5 collections

This is a new year look dress! I bought it purposely for coming Chinese new year. I plan to wear it on the first day, to match with Jayden's "China wear" that I bought from Hangzhou. It would be good if Jo can find something very new year look to wear on the first day, and we can have a nice family photo.

4 of 5 collections

I like to have skirt in this cutting - tight fitting on top and wider (flares) at the bottom. The cutting is good and the length is just nice for my height. I never have a dress in dark green color. Surprisingly, I look very fair with this dress! It will be another new year dress for this coming new year!

5 of 5 collections

I would say I love this dress at first sight! When I first saw it, it was hanging besides a steam iron, near to New Arrival zone. I saw the tag, from Kwan - RM189.90. I said forget about it! I went away and tried on other discounted items from Kwan. After a while, I saw it was no longer at the same place. So I asked the promoter (just to try my luck) and found out that it is 70% off item! No hesitation, I dropped other discounted items from Kwan and just took this! Best match with 3/4 leggings or full leggings, or go nice with black stockings and high heels. I love this the most!

Fashion news (Part 1 of 3) - Top and Bottom

New season coming! It is time to get new members for my wardrobe again! How to shop wisely and make sure what I bought is value for money are very important. So, I have made a very clear mind before I go for a great shopping and make sure I only buy what I have planned and not extra! And, of course, all wearings I buy must be:
1. Comfortable
2. Easy matching
3. Suitable for different occasions
4. Will not get outdated easily
5. I will definitely wear it oftenly

Let's start with top and bottom...

-Top-
1 of 4 collections

I always like to have dresses or shirts with neck ribbon. In fact, I am having a few in my wardrobe already. Yet, I am always tempted to get another one when I see one. I found this one lately. A sleeveless black and white checkers shirt, with neck ribbon.

I can wear it with high waist tight skirts or skinny pants on weekdays to work. I can also wear it with any jeans or shorts on weekends, and it will be very casual and nice. In short, it can easily matched with any skirts, pants or jeans. And it is not expensive!

2 of 4 collections

Other than neck ribbon, I also like to have top with something like this at the chest area. It is semi transparent and it is very light, a very comfortable material. I can wear it with short tight skirt or short flare skirt made of very light material to look more ladylike. I can also match it with skinny pants to look more stylish. But I shall never match it with jeans or short, else I will end up looking like aunties in the morning market.

3 of 4 collections

These are special designed casual T by Trafaluc, from Zara. I said it is special designed because it is priced much cheaper than any other Zara wears. These two Ts are packed as 2 in 1 price. There are other combination and design as well. It is comfortable and I like its cutting.

4 of 4 collections

This is another special designed casual T by Trafaluc, from Zara. The waist area is a little smaller and tight fitting. Best match with long leggings or short jeans. Maybe can also match with skinny jeans, but I don't think it will be nice if it is with a straight cut jeans.

-Bottom-
1 of 1 collection

Just a simple casual short jeans. I like it because it looks very 'old'. I can wear it with any casual T I have. Simple and comfortable!

4 months old now...

Jayden is 4 months old now, weight 6.8kg and height 64.5cm. Everything is within the normal range. And, I am still breastfeeding him.

Jayden is a very concentrate boy. Once he is focusing on something, it will be hard to distract him. Other than simple body organs and a few colors, I have also started teaching him shapes using Willie Learning Shapes. Everytime, he will follow my finger and listen to me quietly when I point to a shape and tell him what that shape is. He will be active again only after I close the book.

He has high curiosity, an observer. When we brought him for vaccination and while waiting for his turn, he would look around quietly, unlike most kids screaming and moving. He is also quite stationery when he is required to be. I can easily cut his finger nails and toe nails, clean his ears and nose, even without his father's help. These characters are very much like his father.

As a mother, I always want to be with him and see him grows. I am glad that I am able to record it down little by little. It is an evidence of Jo's fatherhood and my motherhood life, and evidence of how much joys and happiness he has brought to our family. Most importantly, he can read it when he grows up and know himself more.

Jayden's new ability (4 of 4) - Lift head up

We let Jayden sleeps in prone lying position since he was one month old. Since then, he already expert in turning his head left and right, but not lifting it up for long time.

One of these days, Jo found him awoke from sleep and was looking at something infront of him, with head lifted up! Jo did not make any noise but observe how long he could last. Surprisingly, he lifted his head up for quite a long time! Another great milestone he achieved!

Jayden's new ability (3 of 4) - Flying on bouncer

Other than sleeping time, Jayden spends most of his time on the bouncer, together with his 'elephant and giraffe' pillow. He will hold his pillow, kiss it and talk to it. I should describe it better - lick it and make e-e-ar-ar sounds. Haha...

He has something new these days. He flies!

Jayden was about to hold another stripe of the bouncer. He looked at me when he found me taking his photo.

Both hands holding now... pura-pura looked to another side...

Then... quickly took one hand off from one stripe and both hands holding the same stripe!

1... 2... 3... FLYYYYYYYYY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a bouncer pilot in my house now!

Jayden's new ability (2 of 4) - Holding

My sister bought Jayden a few shakers and I always use it to attract his attention when he is about to cry. And I always try to make him hold it by himself but fail.

That day, my mum tried it again. Jayden managed to hold the shaker very well. I was so surprised and happy! He looked at the shaker, then looked at us, then looked back at the shaker again. My mum taught him how to shake the shaker, then he started doing it, and did it quite well!

Jayden was looking at the shaker that he managed to hold the first time! Look at his little hand, he held it so tight!

He turned to me when he knew I wanted to take a shoot of his first time in holding thing.

Now, Jayden can hold his shaker, toys or teething with both hands. Sometimes, he holds his milk bottle when my mum feeds him.

Jayden's new ability (1 of 4) - Being acrobatic

We always put Jayden into his baby cot after we bring him back from my mother's house. These days, he is no longer just looking at the ceiling or things on his left or right. He is looking towards something more 'challenging' and fun!

This is Jayden's normal position when we put him into his baby cot.

After a while, he will turn his body to one side and start performing his new skill.

There he goes! From the same angle, he looks like a "180°-turned C" rather than the "N" we saw in previous picture.

Ha! My little acrobatic boy~~

Jayden in mummy's album

Smiling to camera

I mentioned earlier about difficulty in taking Jayden's photo, but not anymore now! I realised it two days ago when I was trying to take his photo.

I was trying my very best to attract his attention in looking at me while hiding my camera. He noticed it and looked straight to my camera. As expected, he looked very serious. But more relaxed after a while, then turned into a smiling face! I was so surprised!

Jo always think of making Jayden a baby star in advertisement. I think Jayden is on the right track now. He knows how to react correctly to camera... ha!

I am 4 years younger...

It is time for annual medical checkup! My company has arranged it for all employees and I went for mine this morning. This is my first medical checkup after delivery...

Similar to any other medical checkup, they will need my blood and urine. I like this medical checkup because they also check on body age. Basically, I just stand on a machine, to which they key in my height and my actual age. The machine then takes my body weight and fat content. Base on some magical formula, I get my body age.

There is another test I like - lung age. Again, there is a machine to which they key in my data. To perform the test, I need to inhale as much as I can and give a loud and big exhale into the machine when I am ready, and continue with smooth and long little exhale. The key point is to blow out big air at the beginning and maintain it with long continuous exhale until the end, to show your lung is in good function.

The results from these two tests will normally become a hot topic in our office. Everyone will be talking about it and laughing at each other. In fact, I like these two tests because I enjoy looking at how we react to it. We always have a big laugh!

Here comes my result: my body age is 25 years old this year - 4 years younger than my actual age but 7 years older than last year body age. And guess what? My lung age is 51 years old!! Ha...

Jayden in his new suits

Jayden is growing bigger and needs new clothes. We bought him some from FOS Kids and Teens. It was quite a good offer. Nice design, comfortable material, good quality... and it's only 2 for RM16 or 2 for RM20! We bought one long sleeve t-shirt, two rompers, one long pants and one shorts for Jayden. We also bought t-shirts for our friend's sons and a nice little pink shirt for our niece, Ashlynn.

This is the one I like the most. Jo and I find him looking cute wearing this. Again, Jayden found me taking his picture! He looks serious... or maybe a bit shocked.

I secretly took his picture when he was watching TV. Yes, he was watching TV and he likes watching TV... sigh~ He doesn't like watching cartoons but TV shows that we normally watch. Looks small but matured preference, weird combination! Ha!

He found me taking his pictures again! Luckily Jo attracted his attention to another side and I managed to take down his cheerful look. He is so much attracted by and attached to his father now after I came back from China :)

And, look at this! Jayden showing his middle fingers!! This makes all of us laugh out loud, hahaha!

Jayden~ this little fellow really brings a lot of joys to us! My little prince~

Taking Jayden's photo

Jayden is close to 4 months old now and becomes more playful and talkative. He likes people playing with him, talking to him, making funny sounds and funny facial expressions. Jo always likes to have Jayden sitting on his lap and starts having their 'father and son' talk. Jayden likes it too!

Since Jayden has become more playful and active, I find it more difficult to take his pictures. He will gaze seriously at my camera when he finds me trying to take his pictures, just like this:

Or, maybe a little bit more cheerful look, like this:

The only way to take nice pictures of him is to take it without his notice. In this case, he won't be looking at the camera but other side and this is the minus point. But, looking at the pictures I got, I think still ok.

Cartoon and funny Jayden~

The Red family

It was Jo's birthday! We decided to have one casual family photo, with everyone wearing Liverpool jersey. Of course, Jayden wore his first Liverpool kit that his father bought him earlier. It is still a little bigger for him. I think it will be just nice when he turns to 5 months old.

I think he likes his Liverpool kit well. In this photo, he seemed to be getting ready for a heading. I think Jayden really looks like Jo, just like a chop!!

Looking straight to the camera, say Happy Birthday daddy~

Great daddy!

I was away to China for the last five days and Jo was the one taking care of Jayden other than my mum. It was the first time the father and son being together without me...

I know Jo can handle his boy for sure, but I was still worried. I must say that Jayden was really a good boy when I was not around. I remember I told him to be good before I left home and he did it! And I must praise Jo for his ability, willingness and patience in taking care of his little hero while I was away. He not only took care of Jayden but also did all the house cleaning. I'm sure not many daddies willing and able to do that, but my daddy Jo at home did it very well!!

Unlike most of the men, Jo always give me a hand in all the house chores. He will wash clothes, mop floor, wash toilets... And he cares of me even more than before. He will wake up in the middle of the night to place a pillow behind my back (to reduce my backache) when I'm breastfeeding Jayden. Sometimes he may even massage for me while I'm breastfeeding Jayden. He will help to put Jayden to sleep when I don't feel well, giving me more time to rest.

I know all these don't come for sure and should not take things for granted. It is something that I should cherish and appreciate. I believe in 'Like father like son'. I hope Jayden will grow into a man like his father.

Dear, thanks a lot!

Jayden found his hands

Jayden keeps looking at his hands nowadays. I find him sometimes gazing at his hands for a very long time. I think he found his hands and he is so amazed by his new explore!

He likes to lick and suck his fingers since he was 2 months old but he could not control his hands well. So, he used to miss his fingers half way licking or sucking and started crying. Not anymore now!

Gazing at his cute little hand

Finger lickin' good

Recalling Hokkaido trip~

It is time for company team building again! This reminds me of the last year management retreat - Hokkaido! It was the trip I bought the magic cup for Jo as his birthday present.

I miss the food and hot springs there. I still can smell the fresh king crab smell now! No wordings can describe how pleasant the trip was than pictures...

First night at Noberibetsu, a hot springs area. All hotel guests are requested to wear kimono.

King crab~ still alive! It 'bite' my fingers and that's why I shouted when I took this photo.

Seafood feast! Salmon was the lowest grade, king crab was the best!

Cheers~ visit Asahi beer factory.

Having ice cream during winter, shiok!

Music box house.

In Hokkaido city... kuso!

We are going to Huangshan, Hangzhou this year! I know I will miss Jayden for sure~ And will worry about Jo too!
