Durian

Do you like durian? Or, do you love durian? Well, it's just a simple question but different answer makes a difference. I think "love" can express stronger than "like".

I don't eat durian, for the past 26 years+. Yet, I can't say I don't like durian because I don't even know how it tastes. For me, durian is like a stranger I meet in the street. I don't have much feeling towards this stranger and I don't feel like approaching him/her to make friend.

But this stranger came to me yesterday. My company organized a durian feast yesterday. Everybody was very excited about it. Some of them ate little lunch to "reserve" their stomach for this "King of the Fruit". My colleagues were trying their very best to seduce me to this feast. And, frankly speaking, I was quite convinced and so I went.

A strong fragrance came to my nose and a durian was served in front of me. Somebody told me that was the best of the best and suits beginner very well. I tasted and felt like vomit at the first bite. I tried a smaller bite later... the fragrance slowly spreading over my tongue while I was chewing and slowly went down to my throat. Erm... not so bad! It tasted like an over "masak" nangka, I thought. At the end of the feast, I only managed to take three pieces... all in different flavour and colour. As a conclusion, durian is not so bad. Still, I couldn't get myself addicted as other durian lovers did.

It became a hot topic in the office even the feast was over. And it becomes my topic today to share with you guys and gals. I should say sorry to durian lovers as I can only appreciate the kindness and taste of durian until this level and not further. I won't say I like durian... I will say: durian? Taste ok!
