Daddy's little fan

We left Jayden in his babycot again that day! He was excited as usual and played his 'sit and stand' game again. Suddenly, he stopped what he was doing......

Jayden was standing still and looking at one direction, with full concentration! Something caught his attention fully!

A little concert was going on... daddy was playing guitar and singing song for him! Both daddy and baby enjoyed the show! And mummy enjoyed taking photo.

I always like to see this father and son interaction. It is so sweet and nice...

Jayden's new found love

Jayden is crawling around and always hold on something to stand up. This can be very dangerous if we don't pay full attention on him. We decided to convert his babycot into 'playpen'. We can just leave him inside with his toys, at the same time fully utilise the babycot which was not in use since Jayden turned into 4 months old.

Jayden seems to like the idea! He likes to play 'stand and sit' in his playpen.

He will first hold on the bar to support himself from standing up...

After a while, he releases his hands. Then, he sits back or falls back to the mattress. He loves doing this and laughs out loud continuously...

He will play with his toys for a while when he feels tired from 'stand and sit' game. But he will soon back to his 'stand and sit' game again!

See! He is standing again!

I think we found him new love. The conversion makes him realise how fun the babycot can be!

Orange lover

Jayden starts tasting all sorts of food like cereals, biscuits, potatoes, carrots, bananas, oranges, apples...... I think he likes orange the most.

Jayden becomes very happy and excited when he sees Jo pealing off the orange. He becomes impatience if it takes too much time for the orange to reach his mouth. And he will start nagging... until we feed him.

He tastes it seriously, slowly sucks out the juice from the orange (we still haven't let Jayden eat the whole orange). He will rest for a while before he resumes sucking. He cries if it is not enough for him and laugh out loud if he knows there are more oranges for him.

He is a orange lover, just like his dad and grandma!

My cheerful 8 months old

Jayden can sit upright without support now. And, he can stand too! He learns up new skills in a faster pace than before.

Jayden looked very proud in his sitting position. He looked straight into my camera when I called him for photo taking. I guess he must be thinking of taking down this very moment, an evidence of his great progress!

Jayden is very sensitive to sound. He will immediately search for the source when he hears one. Jo was making some noise and he looked up immediately.

He can stand for quite a while with one hand or both hands holding on something. He is mastering this skill and starting to move step by step from one place to another. This is the moment I am waiting for. Jayden looked so serious in learning up his new skill, yet also wanted to look relax in front of the camera.

Jayden is growing up well and becomes more cheerful than before. He laughs a lot nowadays! Just a simple 'baby', 'good night', 'ding dong', 'excuse me'... can make him laugh out loud. I like his laughing. He is such a happy baby!

Nursing harmony

Jayden and I are back to nursing harmony!

Jo found me a few useful articles about nursing strike and I think these may be reasons causing Jayden on nursing strike:

(1) Cold or stuffy nose that causes breathing difficult
(2) Discomfort from teething
(3) Fear that mum may yell when he bites during nursing

Jayden has stuffy nose recently, also teething. He bit my nipple once during nursing and got my warning from doing that. What I have to do is to tackle those reason one by one.

I started using Sterimar that helps clearing his nose, massaging his gum that helps easing his teething pain, holding him more often to have more skin contacts with him. Jo also created games which allow Jayden to realise that nursing is actually fun and great! Little by little, we finally got Jayden back to my breast last Wednesday night.

The first time he accepted nursing after nursing strike, he sucked for nearly 40 minutes non-stop!! But I had to carry him in craddle hold and walking while nursing him. Two days later, he was ok with lying position. And after few more days of monitoring, I finally convinced myself that my boy is back to normal. In fact, Jayden enjoys nursing more than before!

Jayden won a photo contest

Jo sent in one of Jayden's 4 months old photos to participate in the MumCentre Pic of the Week contest, the same photo that we have developed for our parents. Everyone says Jayden looks very nice and cute in that photo. And guess what? Jayden won the prize!!!

From MumCentre Malaysia, Pic of the Week, Teoh Tze Loke (Jayden's full name) is the winner of the week under Baby Category. The caption that Jo has entered for this photo is "Little fella who is cheerful and cheeky!".

I just received email confirmation from the organizer. Prize will only arrive in 3 weeks to 1 month time, still not sure what the prize is. But, I am happy for Jayden!

Jayden refused to breastfeed

Jayden and I have been enjoying nursing very well and everything goes smoothly since he was borned. I have no issues in nursing, except that I experienced sore nipples and engorgement at the beginning stage.

But Jayden refused to breastfeed last Saturday. I felt so rejected, worried and upset. I was wondering why this came out of sudden and for no reasons! I started blaming myself. I blamed myself for changing to a showel gel that may changed my body smell to something that Jayden doesn't like, I blamed myself for taking sour soup the night before that may caused my breastmilk tastes differently, I blamed almost everything that I can think of... I broke down and cried!

I have given myself a target to continue nursing, at least until Jayden turns to one. Only three and a half months more... I was so close to it yet so far! I couldn't wait until the next time I needed to nurse him, but he refused to it again! I had no choice but to express my milk and feed him using bottle.

Later only I found out that Jayden maybe on a nursing strike now. I feel better because Jayden doesn't reject my breastmilk from bottle. He may be just too lazy to suck from breast. Jo comforts and supports me by checking out articles regarding nursing strike. I will try out those ways in getting Jayden back to nursing. I'm not sure whether it works, but I will try. And I will start doing power pumping to maintain my milk production.

I hope everything back to normal soon......

My helpful boy

Jayden is 8 months plus now and becomes a very helpful boy. He helps to move things from one place to another, switch on/off aircond or fan, switch Astro channel, tear off unwanted envelopes and many more......

That day, he was so busy around the house......

First, he helped to adjust the weight machine. He was so concentrate but realised my existence later. He looked so innocent when he found me taking a picture of him.

Then, he wanted to help on the rubbish. We stopped him. He crawled to another place.

Then, he busy on newspaper......

That is not his busiest day, but definitely a packed one.

Jayden 'helping' house chores

Since Jayden can move around the house freely with his walker, he likes to go to the back of the house - kitchen and laundry area. He becomes excited when he sees the kitchen door is opened. He will then laugh out loud and run quickly all the way from the front to the back! I find it very funny!

That day, he managed to 'walk' down the step and enter the laundry area while Jo was there. Again, this little fellow was curious in everything he saw and wondered what his father was doing.

He found his father taking out his clothes from a big white box. That was the first time he saw a washing machine. He was looking at the washing machine, probably amazed by it!

Then he found his father hanged his clothes high up at the clothes hanger. The hanger was too high for him to reach. He observed carefully in everything Jo did.

Jayden found me taking photo. He looked at me... proudly.
Hey mummy, I'm good boy today. I didn't mess up anything but helping daddy!

I wonder when can Jayden really helps in house chores...
