Jo Junior's first birthday gift from Dabee~

Dabee bought Jo Junior a set of Buds baby products and brought it to me last night. She bought him newborn cleanser, newborn cream, bum balm and massage oil.

Precious Newborn Head to Toe Cleanser is meant for 0 - 4 months baby. It is packed with calendula flower extract and aloe vera to soothe and hydrate. It helps removing dirt and grime without harming Jo Junior's skin.

Precious Newborn Cream is also meant for 0 - 4 months baby. It combines the benefits of jojoba oil, sesame oil and shea butter with inca inchi oil to preserve and protect. It is packed with spent grain wax, aloe vera extract and olive leaf extract to promote skin hydration and providing potent antioxidants.

Baby Bum Balm will keep Jo Junior's bum smooth and kissable, ha! It is loaded with organic beeswax to prevent irritation and discomfort. It is packed with inca inchi, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, sheabutter, tea tree oil and rosemary to provide protection, soothing and healing properties.

Baby Massage Oil will create a wonderful way for me to spend time and bond with Jo Junior. It is packed with jojoba oil, sunflower oil and inca inchi to bolster healthy skin. And it is fragrance free.

More than 98% of all ingredients for the above products are proceed from Organic Farming, and are all preservative free! I know I can safely use it without worrying that any of the ingredients may be harmful to Jo Junior.

Not forgetting me, Dabee also bought me nursing slave. It will definitely help my skin to cope with the demands of nursing Jo Junior, minimising any discomforts from breastfeeding.

I think Jo Junior should be happy that he has such a nice aunty that cares and adores him so much, even before he is borned! And, I should be grateful for what Dabee has done for me all these while~

Dabee, my dearest sister, I Love You!

First day back to work~

After so many days resting in ward and at home, today is my first day back to work. I feel so energetic and happy! I guess Jo Junior has the same feeling, because he is a little bit more active today.

As I need to climb staircase to my room, so I stay in my room whole day unless going to washroom. My colleagues are so kind to pack my lunch from the canteen and send it to my room. Our tea lady said she will always be there if I need anything from downstair. I also restrict myself from too much walking, carrying heavy files and documents.

This is what I tell Jo Junior everyday now: Be mummy's good boy. Please stay in the womb because it is still too early for you to come out. Make sure you are healthy and strong. Also, help mummy to remind placenta to move farther from the cervix so that mummy can go for normal delivery instead of cesarean. We both work together ok? Thank you, my boy! Be good boy, daddy and mummy love you......

Jo Junior is now 34 weeks old. I just need to wait for another 6 weeks for delivery. I know everyone will be very worry if anything happened to me, especially Jo, so I must be extra careful! I know it is a battle that Jo Junior and I are in now, and as mother and son, we will work things out together! Yeah~

What happened to me is called Placenta Praevia

I finally found out what happened to me is called Placenta Praevia (some written as Placenta Previa). It is a condition which placenta attaches to the uterine wall in the lower portion of the uterus and covers all or part of the cervix.

Normal placenta should be near the top of the uterus, leaving the opening of the cervix clear for the delivery. If placenta remains in the lower part of the uterus, it is praevia. There are three types of praevia: marginal, partial and complete praevia. Mine is marginal praevia, which placenta is against the cervix but does not cover the opening.

My symptom of placenta praevia is painless vaginal bleeding, which happened in week 32. Bleeding from a placenta previa happens when the cervix begins to thin out or dilate and disrupts the blood vessels in that area.

I was advised to reduce activities and stay on bed rest. I was also given some medical treatments, i.e. steroid shots to help mature the baby's lungs, multivitamins to strengthen my body, and Ventolin to reduce contractions. Steroid shot is quite a painful shot, and Ventolin will cause faster heart beats and shaking hands. I did cross match for blood holds in case of any blood transfusion.

For my case, there is still a chance that my placenta can be farther from the cervix as uterus expands. Also, as placenta itself grows, it is likely to grow toward the richer blood supply in the upper part of the uterus. It is still possible for me to go through normal delivery. But I may also end up entering C-section (cesarean delivery). It all depends on my condition when close to delivery.

I'm glad that my condition is getting stable but I still have to be very careful. Jo Junior gives me comforts because he is still as active as before. I can clearly feel his movements, and his every movement makes me less worries.

Parcel from Liverpool

We finally received parcel from Liverpool, with Jo Junior's first Liverpool kit, Jo's 2009/2010 Liverpool away jersey and beach set.

Jo got himself 2009/2010 Liverpool away jersey, with #23 Carragher printed at the back of the jersey. For early bird, we received free Liverpool beach set which comes with a Liverpool towel, a Liverpool bag and Liverpool football.

These are Jo Junior's first Liverpool kits that Jo has shortlisted earlier. We bought a romper (12 ~ 18 months) and a baby home kit (18 ~ 24 months) for Jo Junior. He should look cute in these.

Chicken rice

Chicken rice is always my favourite. Just thinking of the nice shining oil rice and roasted boneless chicken can make me crazy! After having hospital food for so many days, I really crave for it. And guess what? My aunt bought me chicken rice yesterday for lunch. Chicken rice is not only my favourite now but the most delicious food in the world!!

I was so excited when I got my chicken rice, as if I were receiving some kind of rewards from headmaster on stage. It was only eleven in the morning and I couldn’t wait to finish it. I felt so happy and satisfied after having my chicken rice, haha! I got my hospital lunch an hour later and it looked even more tasteless…

What a great day with chicken rice~ ;p

Main activity in hospital

I think everyone knows how hospital foods are like. Nobody will be interested in hospital food but foods from visitors.

My god-dad bought me a very big bag of apples yesterday morning. My mum said that could be his first time to wet market himself. He looked like Santa when he came in, kind of hiding behind the curtain when he presented me his apples.

In the afternoon, Sister Yan (my cousin sis-in-law) came to see me with apples, cherries, kiwis and strawberries. She looked like big sister when she came in, with a big smile that made me warm. Looking at all the fruits I have, I think I have accumulated enough fruits to open a small fruit stall at the hospital lobby.

Today, my friend Wendy brought me a nice chocolate cake from one of the pastry house opposites Subang Parade. She said there was a long queue when she bought the cake. We had the cake together. It is really very delicious until I couldn’t control myself but had few more small pieces after she left.

Despite of all these, I still have other foods brought from home, for example biscuits, tomato, tit-bits, milk, fruit juice… which will always be replenished even before it is finished. Hospital is really a boring place and so the main activity here is eating. I think Jo Junior will become even bigger after I discharged.

Birthday in hospital

I had my first birthday in hospital on the day I was borne. Yesterday, I had my second birthday in hospital again…

Jo was the first person wishing me Happy Birthday at 00:50 in the morning, with the three magic words. That comforted me and gave me a good sleep. I received a lot of birthday wishes and calls for the rest of the day. Looking at my current situation, all these wishes and calls mean so special to me. And, I got a cake cutting session in my ward!

My god-parents and brothers bought me a nice birthday cake. Jo, mum and sis were with me as well, everyone sang me birthday song. And, it was my first birthday with Jo Junior inside me. I felt so warm and touched!

Back to my condition, no more bleeding since yesterday and doctor is satisfied with my condition. But he would like to observe few more days before I can go home. Jo Junior is healthy and active. I think this is another great birthday present. I’m still required to rest on bed, but allowed to toilet and have small walk in the room. I think everything will back to normal very soon...

One night stay in labour room

I'm only 32 weeks pregnant now but I found some bleeding yesterday afternoon at about 3pm. The bleeding was not continuous, just blood spots and I didn't experience any pain nor contraction. I thought it is quite normal as my mum also experienced that when she was having me. Just to be safe, Jo and I decided to have a 'simple' check.

Around 7pm, we arrived at the hospital. I expected a simple one hour quick check on baby and myself. And I could go home at around 8pm, just in time for my dinner. But, it wasn't! While Jo and I were still unsure about the situation, we were already in the labour room. I was asked to change my clothes and lie on the bed. Nurse checked Jo Junior's heart beats and my condition. Later, my doctor came in with a machine and a lot of other check-ups followed.

The last piece of information I got was: my placenta is against the cervix but does not cover the opening, which causes the bleeding. I have to admit into hospital and will be observed to make sure the bleeding stops. To be sure that Jo Junior is strong enough in case of any early delivery, doctor will do steroid injection for me. To avoid any contraction that may cause non-stop bleeding, I was given a medicine but I may experience faster heart beats and shaking hands. I have to be observed in the labour room for one night and I couldn't take any food until further notice......

After all these, Jo and I were left in the labour room. I was unprepared for all these. I couldn't control anymore and so I cried. This one night stay in labour room was definitely not a good one! I was asked to rest on bed even for passing urine. The bed was cold and hard and my back was aching. The only thing that comforted me and accompanied me into sleep was my Jo Junior's heart beats that came out from one of the machines.

I'm now in a normal ward, writing this post... My condition is getting better and I hope I can be home soon.

Stupid tooth still stupid~

I have been taking porridge for every meal since Tuesday, but my stupid wisdom tooth still looks stupid today! Erm, maybe a little bit better...

I eat like a rabbit now because I can only bite with my front teeth to avoid any pain. I spent about half an hour to finish two small pieces of biscuits last night, about 45 minutes to finish a small bowl of meehun soup for today's lunch and more than 15 minutes to finish a banana just now... I think a rabbit eats much faster than me!

The worst part is: I have the appetite to take any food I like but without the ability to open my mouth to bite. Suddenly, my life becomes so meaningless and boring... A pregnant woman without the ability to take any food she likes is no different than a non-pregnant woman! I have lost the biggest right a pregnant woman can have~~~

Stupid tooth

My left bottom gum was swollen since Tuesday and became worst on Wednesday mid night until I couldn't sleep. So I went to dentist yesterday morning. The dentist couldn't do much because I'm in 3rd trimester now. I couldn't take a lot of medicines, so he only gave me Paracetamol to ease the pain and antibiotic Amoxicilin. My gum is still swollen. I have to wait for few days for it to recover before I can go for tooth extraction.

I read articles from net and most of it do not suggest wisdom tooth extraction in 3rd trimester as it may cause premature labour. Also, due to pregnancy, dentist can only use local anesthetic such as Novocain or Lidocaine that will not cause any problems with the baby. But I'm still worry about the surgery and healing process... I hope the pain will go off and I can defer the extraction to be done after delivery.

I wonder why it is named wisdom tooth as I don't see wisdom but stupidity. It always cause problems and I think it should be named stupid tooth.

Jo was having migrain yesterday. Still, he accompanied me to see dentist, bought me coconut drink to relieve the pain and swelling, and cooked me lunch and dinner. Thanks to my dear hubby Jo!

My pregnant look

My pregnant look during 28 weeks ~ 30 weeks pregnancy. None of these clothes are maternity wears except for the long pants.

Do I look like expecting mother?

Thanks to Jo who took my everyday pregnant look for the passed two weeks.

30 weeks pregnancy

I went to my 30 weeks check-up this morning. Jo Junior is in head-down position, amniotic fluid is sufficient and everything is fine!

My body weight now is 55.1kg, 0.5kg increase compared to last check-up. From simple mathematics, it seems that I have lost 0.1kg because Jo Junior has gained 0.6kg. He is 1.6kg now, which is equivalent to 3.52pounds.

I found out from internet that a 30-week baby will weigh about 2.5pounds to 3pounds. Meaning, Jo Junior is about half pounds heavier. Gosh... I may have a little fatty boy inside me! His dad has started calling him 'Fei Cai', which means fatty boy in cantonese. Haha...

Say "NO" to plastic bags

Today, I received an email notification from IKEA and I'm very happy to see the notice below:

Finally, we need to purchase plastic bags and not getting it for free! Even though it is not started by any local merchants, but I hope our Swedish friend can help to bring up the awareness!

I'm still not use to bring my own reusable bags out for marketing but at least I'm adapting to it now. Now I keep a few reusable bags in my car in case I need it. We have been taking things from granted and it's time to repay!

Please love our environment. Please love our mother earth.
